Business Competitions
The School of Business is committed to nurturing future leaders with professional business knowledge and all-round competence. In particular, the School has been supporting students to gain practical experience and sharpen both analytical and communication skills through open competitions. Students who are determined to gain hands-on experience from business competitions will recieve guidance from coaches, and may be eiligible to apply for scholarships if they have achieved triumph in the contests.
Organized by the School of Business, BizSpark-BBA Student Research Competition is a platform for BBA students to showcase business research works and present creative business ideas. Student will have the opportunity to present your research ideas, sharpen communication and presentation skills and meet with industry experts.
Students can submit their paper in one of the below categories:
> Academic research paper
> Consultancy-based project
BizSpark Competition 2021- 2022
HSBC/HKU Hong Kong Business Case Competition is one of the most esteemed business case competitions in Hong Kong. Each university will send a representative team to compete, and the winning teams of the Hong Kong competition will be invited to the HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition to compete with teams of Asia Pacific region. The HKBU team is one of the most competitive student teams and has received various awards over the past years.
In 2020, BBA student team crowned Champion at the Asia Pacific Final of HSBC/HKU Business Case Competition.

CFA Institute Reasearch Challenge is a global business competition that has been held for 17 years. It is intended to complement university curriculum by simlulating the real world experience of an equity analyst.
Each Research Challenge season leverages the efforts of 150+ CFA member societies, and 5,000+ students from 900+ universities worldwide including top business schools being ranked in Financial Times. In 2019-20, HKBU has won the Second Runner-up in local final.
Participants will be asked to:
- From a group of 3-5 members
- Analyse a Public Company
- Write an Equity Research Report
- Present Research to a High-Profile Panel of Experts
