19 Mar, 2020
Four BBA students were crowned champions at the HSBC/HKU Hong Kong Business Case Competition 2020 on 16 March 2020. The team will join the University of Hong Kong to represent Hong Kong and compete against other winning teams from the region at the Asia Pacific Final in June 2020.

Outshining six other contesting teams, the HKBU team comprises Davis Lee Ka Chun (BBA Finance, Year 4), Jeremiah Lee Gong Kuen (BBA Applied Economics, Year 3), Keith To Kin Tak (BBA Finance, Year 4) and Leo Tsui Chun Lok (BBA Marketing, Year 3). The competition challenged students with a case study of the transformation of operations in the retail industry. The HKBU team impressed the judges with their acute business sense, comprehensive analysis and impeccable presentation. The team was awarded a cash prize of HK$8,000.

Dr. Man Ko, Senior Lecturer of the School’s Department of Accountancy and Law, and coach to the winning team, praised the students’ effective communication and great resilience. “From preparation to the competition day, the students have shown good teamwork and complete dedication despite the limitations imposed by the current social situation. It is especially commendable that the students performed faultlessly though the competition was held online.”

Organised by HKU Asia Case Research Centre and sponsored by HSBC, the HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition brings together elite business students from universities in Hong Kong and across Asia to contest by grappling with unique business cases. It is supported by seasoned business people with international experience and exposure, who form the panel of judges for the competition.
